Ethel L. Bacher

Ethel L. Bacher, 91, formerly of Meadow St. and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since 2007, died there Tuesday, October 25, 2011 surrounded by her family.

She was born March 29, 1920 in Sharpsville, a daughter of Howard S. and Mona Louise Corlett Barlett.  Ethel graduated from Knox High School in 1938.  Following high school, she received her teaching degree in 1942 from Grove City College, where she met her future husband, Raymond Bacher.  They were married on September 20, 1945 in Harmison Chapel at Grove City College.  He preceded her in death on November 20, 2003.

She was a business teacher and secretary at Knox High School before her marriage.  She also helped her husband at Vallonia Industries.  For most of her life she was a homemaker, a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She devoted her life to her family.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Meadville.  She loved playing golf, bridge, cards with her friends, painting at Wesbury with Rev. Ellen, playing the organ with her organ friends, dancing with her husband and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Clarion Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and was a former member of the Lioness Club in Meadville and the Meadville Country Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Rozell and her husband Bob of Meadville and Susan Davis and her husband Mike of Ocala, FL; a grandson, Christopher Rozell and his wife Danielle of Mechanicsburg and three great-grandsons, Braden Jeffery Rozell, Elliot Jon Rozell and Holden Joseph Rozell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dr. Jeffery Scott Rozell and two sisters, Esther Randolph and Nancy Grine.

Calling hour will be Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Cribbs Home Lounge at Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow in McCracken Chapel of Cribbs Home with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Chaplain, officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.

The family suggests memorials be made to Vallonia Industries, 78 Poplar St., Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., all of Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
