Ethel Marie Spear Pratt, 97, formerly of Meadville, PA, passed away April 28, 2019 in Mason, Ohio.
A lifelong resident of Meadville, Mrs. Pratt was born November 29, 1921 to James A. and Mary Crane Spear. She was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School and a 1940 graduate of Meadville Commercial College. Employed with American Viscose Corporation from 1940- 1946, she later worked with Leland Culbertson, Esq. Law Office from 1955-1957 and later with Bozic, Thomas and Johnson Law Office as Bookkeeper and Secretary from 1965 until retirement in 1983.
A member of First Christian Church, she served as church treasurer for over 40 years and missionary treasurer for 15 more years. She taught children’s Bible School classes for many years, was a member of the church choir and a camp worker at Deep Valley Christian Service Camp (Slippery Rock, PA; formerly at Dempseytown).
She married Ralph Earl Pratt on June 16, 1945 who preceded her in death in January 2010 after 64 years of marriage; She is survived by three sons, Alan J. (Eileen) of Utica, OH; Daryl C. (Barbara) of Titusville, FL; Jon D. (Cynthia) of Braceville, OH; two daughters, Judith E. Pratt of Cincinnati, OH and Noreen R. (Richard) Kemple of Arlington, IN; eleven grandchildren, Darin (Holly) Pratt, Kevin Pratt, Melanie (Wes) Jones, Christy (David) Futrell, Laurie (Joe) Minshull, Rachel (Kenneth) Sullinger, Michael (Sarah) Pratt, Sarah (Kent) Wories, Gwen (Derek) Leininger, Emily (Matt) Kaster, and Leah Kemple; 20 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother Walter, a granddaughter Jenny Lynn Pratt; and two grandsons, Jeffrey Scott Pratt and Gavin Lawrence Pratt.
Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE on Thursday, May 2nd from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, May 3rd from 10-11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main Street Ext, Meadville, PA. The funeral service will follow at the church with her sons and grandson Darin Pratt officiating.
Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 503 N. Main Street Ext., Meadville, PA 16335.
