Etta Jean Furey

Etta Jean Furey, 84, of Sharon and formerly of Conneaut Lake, died August 13, 2005 at Sharon Regional Health Systems.

She was born May 16, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of John and Etta Jean Heiman Wyllie.  She had been married to Fred Hanek and subsequently married Grover (Gene) Furey who preceded her in death.

She worked for many years as a registered nurse, retiring as a private duty nurse.  She was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed water sports and especially raising sheep.

Survivors include a grandson, Brian F. Hanek (Lucinda) of Cranberry Township; a granddaughter, Janell Hanek of Kansas City, KS; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alayna Hanek; and nephews and nieces, including Janis Hanek Chapin of Conneaut Lake.

She was preceded in death by a son, John F. Hanek and a sister, Gertrude McCarroll.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
