Eve Joy Link, 75, of Meadville died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born November 28, 1940 in Easton, PA a daughter of Clarence Weidaw. She was raised by her grandparents, Fred and Alice Weidaw. She had been married to Philip Link. She was a 1958 graduate of Meadville High School, a 1962 graduate of Grove City College with a B.A. in English and a 1967 graduate of Shippensburg University with a BS in Education. She taught for seven years in the York Suburban School District, York, PA, then returned to Meadville and taught 7th grade English and 9th grade Journalism at the Meadville Junior High until retirement in 1994. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, on the Christian Education Committee, Mission Committee, Social Issues Class, sang in the choir and the Liberty Street Players. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women, Circle Leader, Board Secretary, Moderator and newsletter editor for "PW Connections." She was also active in the Lake Erie Presbytery serving as Resource Center Director and newsletter editor for "The Lake Erie Breeze." She also served as Corresponding Secretary, Moderator, Synod Representative and Leadership Development and Resources Chairperson for the Presbyterian Women of the Lake Erie Presbytery. In the community she was a past board member of Crawford County Community Council, Crawford County School to Work Program, the PA Association of School Retirees, the Crawford County READ Program, Crawford County Human Services, The ARC of Crawford County, Friends of the Market House, AmeriCorps Vista Advisory Council and Meadville Council on the Arts. She was a past secretary, grant writer and newsletter editor for the Meadville Council of the Arts. She was a member of the Perkins Book Club, Womens Literary Club and the ROTA Literary Club. She was a past member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary where she had served as the chairwoman of the MMC Childrens Health Fair for five years. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Link of Erie; two half-sisters, Adele Wilson and Elissa Weidaw; 14 cousins, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and step relatives. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Desiree Whipple. Calling hour will be Wednesday, April 13th from 10-11 a.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Erie Homes for Children and Adults, 226 East 27th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
