Evelyn Gibson Satterlee

June 2, 1930 — February 7, 2024

Evelyn Gibson Satterlee, 93, of Vernon Township, passed away from congestive heart failure on February 7, 2024, in the same home in Vernon Township where she was born, and with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.

She was born Evelyn Lorena Gibson on June 2, 1930, daughter of Harold P. and Ethel (Smith) Gibson, youngest of four children. A graduate of Meadville High School Class of 1948, she married Joseph C. Satterlee on May 5, 1951.

Evelyn worked at Talon and Marg’s Jewelry Store and in 1968 began her career as a state employee. She moved up through the ranks and retired as administrative officer from the Department of Public Welfare in 1990. She was an active member of Watson Run Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star Golden Crown Chapter, Watson Run Women’s Club, and many other Masonic and civic organizations.

Evelyn is survived by daughter, Deborah Corll (Daniel) of Meadville; son Charles (Cindi) of Meadville; grandchildren Michael Satterlee (Jim Nowlin) of Aston, PA, Daniel Satterlee (Madison) of Elkhorn, NE, Eric Corll (Elizabeth) of Dublin, OH, Heidi Corll of Meadville, Jeremy Corll (Jennifer) of New Wilmington, PA, and Joseph Corll (fiancée, Kaile Feitt) of Oakdale, PA; great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Anderson, Samuel and Mabel Corll and Banks Satterlee; former daughter-in-law Deborah Satterlee of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law Elizabeth Perrone of Niles, OH and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph in 2019, a son, Gary, and three brothers: William, Robert and Clair Gibson and their spouses. She loved her family dearly.

Family and friends will be received Monday, February 12th from 3-6 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 6:00 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Watson Run Presbyterian Church, 13594 Harmonsburg Road, Meadville with son-in-law Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Corll officiating. The Committal Service and a luncheon will immediately follow. Inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg, PA will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express a special thank you to caregivers Joetta Robison and Tracy Neiswonger for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Watson Run Presbyterian Church, 13594 Harmonsburg Road, Meadville, PA 16335; or to the Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund, Zem Zem Temple, 2525 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
