Evelyn L. Morse

Evelyn (Eve) L. Morse, 92, of 747 Maple St., Meadville, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at her residence She was born in New York City May 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Lillian Brackmann Mau. She married Edward S. Morse, Jr. August 23, 1941 and he preceded her in death December 11, 2004. She was a graduate of Pace University, New York, NY. She was employed as a secretary for the Patent Counsel of the American Smelting and Refining Company, New York, NY for 13 years. In the 1960s, she worked as a secretary at Allegheny College for 5 years. She was formerly active in various local organizations, most recently the Meadville Womens Literary Club and the Meadville Womens Club. She enjoyed reading, writing, classical music, golfing, bowling, and swimming. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include 3 daughters, Carole Alexander of Meadville; Jane Headley and her husband Ronald of Linesville; and Ann Lyman and her husband William of Downers Grove, IL; 6 grandchildren, Barrie Alexander Ford; Chris Headley; Shaun Headley; Matthew Doubleday; Susan North; and Andrew North; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 nieces. In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth (Patti) Flynn. A private family memorial service will be held in the spring 2007. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335; Meadville Memorial Tree Fund, City Building, Meadville, PA 16335; or Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
