Mrs. Evelyn Layng Miller, 71, of Meadville, wife of Dr. Charles S. Miller, died at City Hospital Monday, February 12, 1979, after an extended illness.
She was born in Greenville July 8, 1907, a daughter of Frank R. and Belle Chase Layng.
Before she was married, Mrs. Miller worked as secretary to the president of Allegheny College. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philo-Mathesian Society and the Meadville Garden Club.
She was a graduate of Thiel College and did post-graduate work at Simmons College, Boston.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Martha Silver of New Haven, CT; four sons, Edwin Miller of Hong Kong, China, Stephen Miller of Tampa, FL, William Miller of Philadelphia and Charles Miller of Pasadena, CA; two brothers, Frank C. Layng of Meadville and Edwin T. Layng of Summit, NJ; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
