Fern (Cutshall) Applegate

Mrs. Fern Applegate, 78, of Guys Mills, died suddenly at home Saturday, April 13, 1968.

She was born in Randolph Township August 25, 1889, a daughter of Williams S. and Della Fairbanks Cutshall.  She married Ward M. Applegate December 11, 1906.  He died in 1961.

She was a housewife, a member of United Church of Guys Mills and its Ladies Aid Society; and Randolph Grange.  She was a volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society and her hobby was gardening.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Wygant of Meadville, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) McCarl of Guys Mills, Mrs. C. G. (Ruth) Grundy of Guys Mills, Mrs. G. W. (Lurlie) Rickard of Eustis, FL and Mrs. William (Jaunita) Bowdin of Montgomery, AL; a son, Harley Applegate of Conneaut Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Clemie Wedlock of Union City and Mrs. Lawrence (Angie) Wheeler of Austilia, FL; two brothers, Stanley of Conneaut Lake and Elwood of Saegertown; a half brother, Archie of Guys Mills; several nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home with Rev. A. Jay Metzler of United Church of Guys Mills, officiating.

Interment was in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
