Florence A. Thomas, 87, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born July 15, 1924 in Albion Township, Orange County, NY, a daughter of Leroy and Margaret Shaffer Wallis. She married Leroy (Lee) E. Miller and he preceded her in death June 30, 1974. She subsequently married Wayne A. Thomas November 30, 1979 and he preceded her in death August 25, 2011.
Florence worked as a waitress at Huckleberry’s Restaurant for 3 years and the Parkway Diner and Cottage Restaurant for 10 years. She subsequently worked at Avtex in processing for 14 years and then as a cashier at Club Cal-Neva, Reno, NV for 13 years.
Florence was a member of High Street Community Church, Conneaut Lake and enjoyed flower gardening and sewing.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Skinner and her husband James of Palisade, CO, Janice Grant and her husband Robert of Freedom, and Bonnie Flinn and her husband Thomas of Jamestown; a stepson, Earl Thomas and his wife Sue of Linesville; two stepdaughters, Delores Turcotte of South Hampton, MA and Joy Burchill and her husband the Rev. Joseph of Landisville; two sisters, Annabell Musgrave of Rochester and Pearl Holcomb of Cambridge Springs; two brothers, Howard Wallis and his wife Mary of New Brighton and Donald Wallis and his wife Jan of Saegertown; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Miller; a stepson, Lee Thomas; three sisters, Esther Waid, Dorothy Seamans, and Hazel Post; and two brothers, Thomas and Clarence Wallis.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at High Street Community Church, 9517 U.S. Hwy 322, Conneaut Lake where the funeral and committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Schwarck, Interim Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
