Florence Rosalie Moertel

Florence Rosalie Moertel, 90, of 12241 Wing Rd., Conneautville, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born November 11, 1914 in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late William and Louise Scott Wagus.  She married William Shuey in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1974.  She subsequently married James C. Moertel in 1976 and he preceded her in death July 9, 1995.

She was a graduate of Homestead High School, Homestead, PA and the Grace Martin Secretarial School of Pittsburgh.  She worked for 15 years as a clerk at the Sears store in Meadville, retiring in 1976.  She enjoyed traveling.

She was a member for over 50 years of Norrisville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Free and her husband David of Conneautville; a son, William Shuey and his wife Bonnie of Conneautville; 2 stepsons, George Moertel and his wife Sandy of Conneautville and James Moertel of Meadville; 3 grandchildren, David Free, and Michelle and Jason Shuey; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, Samantha Free and Kamron Shuey; 1 step-great-granddaughter; and a nephew whom she raised with her first husband, Richard E. Price of San Diego, CA.  In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Louise Price and a niece, Lorraine Tester.

Calling hour will be Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral and committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dave Acker, Pastor of Norrisville United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
