Florence W. Lewis

May 23, 1884 — December 14, 1968

Mrs. Florence W. Lewis, 84, formerly of Cambridge Springs, died Saturday evening, December 14, 1968, at Hillside Home after an illness of two months.  She had lived at the home since August 1965.

Mrs. Lewis was the widow of Walter D. Lewis, whom she married May 31, 1906.  He was principle of Meadville High School from 1909 to 1913.  Later they operated a hardware store at Cambridge Springs for 20 years.  They moved to Meadville in 1946.  He died in 1961.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Cussewago Township, May 23, 1884, a daughter of O. M. and Louise Metzenbacher Wood.  She graduated from Meadville High School in 1903 and from Meadville Commercial College in 1905.  For a short time, she was secretary to the commercial college's president.

She was a member of the Crawford County Tuberculosis and Health Society Board of Directors for more than 15 years, a member of the Ladies Advisory Committee of City Hospital, of Meadville Woman's Club and its Garden Division, and of First Baptist Church.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cambridge Cemetery.
