Floyd P. Gregory, 79, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born May 30, 1919 in Spartansburg, a son of the late Frank P. and Minnie Marie Morris Gregory. He married Dorothy Jane Patterson December 31, 1940. She preceded him in death October 25, 1977. He subsequently married Beatrice Pollizi Bengivenga May 29, 1982. She survives.
He was a 1937 graduate of the former Summit High School. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific-Asiatic Theatre of Operations. He was a master carpenter, having worked for Moss Brothers Lumber Co. for 32 years. He subsequently worked for Northwest Specially Co. as an estimator, retiring in 1985. He was a charter member of the Conneaut Lake Park VFD and a member of Meadville Eagles Aerie 429. He enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle man.
He was a member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Carol Ann) Nader of Conneaut Lake and Mrs. Angelo (Margaret Louise) Scarsella of Grove City; three sisters, Amy Pelley of Linesille, Leora Shartle of Linesville and Ila McElroy of Meadville; two brothers, Donald Gregory of Conneautville and Herbert Gregory of Ukiah, CA; four grandchildren, Christina Amrstrong, Michelle McGonigal, Gina Scarsella and Gregory Scarsella; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Stephanie Ann, James Matthew, and Heather; one step-daughter, Mrs. John (Joyce) Gionti of Meadville; three step-grandchidren and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ora Gregory, an infant brother and a grandson, Mark LeRoy Nader.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Espyville Cemetery.
