Frances A. Holbrock

Frances A. Holbrook, 94, formerly of Pennsylvania Ave., Meadville and a resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born August 3, 1916 in Geneva, PA a daughter of Lester and Agnes Henry Randall.  She married Lloyd Holbrook June 13, 1936 and he preceded her in death September 1, 1981.

Frances was a homemaker and had first worked at Talon Inc. ,where she met her husband, during World War II, then as a sales clerk at the former Fashion Shop on Chestnut Street, then the former Children's Shop on Market Street and the former Carlisle's.

She was affiliated with First Baptist Church and Christ Episcopal Church.  She was very active in the PTA when her children were in school and help organize the first kindergarten program in Meadville public schools.  She was a member of the Rota Literary Club and the Philo-Mathesian Literary Club.  Frances was also a very warm hearted person who was very proud of her family and the Christian values that they have embraced.

Survivors include three sons, Emory Holbrook of Meadville, Paul Holbrook of Scotland, PA, and Mark Holbrook of Idaho Falls, ID; three daughters, Geraldine Hogan of Meadville, Sharon Lavely of Troy, IL, and Kristi McGarvey of Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Randall; a sister, Geraldine Randall; and a son-in-law, William Hogan.

A private family funeral and committal service will be Monday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with Rev. Rebecca Lash, officiating assisted by Rev. Dwight Stallard.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
