Mrs. Frances M. Voorhees, 66, of Meadville, widow of Albert C. Voorhees, died Sunday, February 22, 1981, at City Hospital after an illness of several months.
She was born at Meadville, February 15, 1915, daughter of Richard and Mae Gibson Adsit. Voorhees, a former city police officer, died June 6, 1977.
She retired in February 1977 as comanager of Park Avenue Plaza State Store after 31 years of service. She attended First Baptist Church for 39 years and was a member of its KJU Class. She was a founding member and current president of the auxiliary of Col. Lewis Walker Lodge 97, Fraternal Order of Police. She was a member of Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth; PA Assn. of Retired State Employees and of Alter 5 Club.
Survivors include a son, Norman A. of Erie; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Adsit of Meadville and Mrs. Arthur (Bernice) Mattocks of Erie; a brother, Alfred C. Adsit of Meadville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
