Francis G. Porter

Francis G. (Frank) Porter, 70, of Conneaut Lake, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born October 14, 1928, in Greenwood Township, Crawford County, a son of Norman and Irene Sankey Porter. He married Vera Lee Horne August 16, 1974. She survives. He worked for 30 years at the former at the former Greenville Steel Car Co., retiring as a machine operator in 1990. He also worked as a farmer his entire life. A US Army veteran, he served from 1954 to 1956. He was president of Greenfield Cemetery Assn., and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. he was of the Protestant faith. Survivors, in addition to his wife of 24 years, include two stepchildren, Sharon Potts of Greentree and Eric Shaw of Chezwick; a sister, Norma Porter of Conneaut Lake; two brothers, James Porter (Margaret) of Conneaut Lake and Bill Porter (Ellen) of Linesville; a sister-in-law, Erika Porter of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hickernell and a brother, Alvin Porter. Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenwood Township.
