Francis W. Hamilton, 80, of Blooming Valley, died Thurday, January 4, 1996, at Crawford County Care Center following a short illness.
He was born October 5, 1915 in Pleasantville, NJ, a son of the late Perle Watson and Esther Lucy (Handley) Hamilton. He married Dorothy Bradshaw on April 12, 1943. She preceded him in death November 19, 1995.
Mr. Hamilton retired from the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier after 33 years of service. He previously worked at Talon. He was a veteran of WWII with the US Amry in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Postal Workers bowlers league and Sunday Plaza bowlers league, an avid golfer, and a member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Phyllis) Cousins of Binghamton, NY; six sons, Karl E. Hamilton of Arlington, VA, Gene A. Hamilton of Saegertown, Gary L. Hamilton of Charleroi, Dean E. Hamilton of Belen, NM, John D. Hamilton of Virginia Beach, VA, and Glen M. Hamilton of Meadville; twelve grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Truax of York, Vivian Hamilton of Belen NM and Rev. James Hamilton of Meadville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Ivan Hamilton and one sister, Mary Hamilton.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
