Frank A. Roth

Frank A. Roth, 86, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Allegheny General Hospital following an eight year courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 25, 1933 in Meadville, a son of Anthony and Mary Inchiose Rotkievecz.  He married Julia E (Julie). Rockafellow July 26, 1958 and she survives.

He was first employed as a cook in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes.  After he met Julie, Frank started Frank Roth Painting where, supported by Julie, he was owner and operator for over 50 years.

A member of First Christian Church, Frank was also a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219, former Sertoma Club, Vernon Central VFD, Conneaut Lake VFD Station 3, VFW Post 2006, and supported Veterans of the Vietnam War Post 52.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing, hunting, fishing, making various homemade soups, and his cottage at Tionesta on the Allegheny River.

Frank loved life, his family, his kitties, and all the wildlife on his property including many deer, turkey, black bear and 3 bear cubs.  He loved children, especially disadvantaged children giving them opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have had.  He showed love and compassion for his employees who needed help.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Julie, include a daughter, Cheryl Roth Hudson of Atlantic; a son, Steven Roth of Conneaut Lake; and two grandchildren, Chelsea Hudson of Hilton Head Island, SC and Kimone Roth of Erie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Roth and a sister, Betty Jane Roth Rotkievecz.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 31st from 4-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Thursday, August 1st at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Gibson of First Christian Church officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
