Frank C. Woolstrum, 91, of Cooperstown, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at Sugar Creek Station, Franklin following a period of declining health.
He was born December 21, 1920 in Troy Center, a son of Charles and Grace Hull Woolstrum. He married June Warp June 9, 1942 and she preceded him in death November 21, 2008.
Frank was a 1938 graduate of Townville High School. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a life-long self-employed dairy farmer who was involved in various community agricultural organizations over the years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in later years and especially loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was affiliated with Chapmanville Community Church and was a former member of McDaniels Corners Bible Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlene K. Woolstrum of Cooperstown, Linda L. Zinz and her husband Terry of Cooperstown, and Barbara A. Midcap and her companion Dave Speth of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Evan Midcap, Michelle Ault and her husband Lester, Angela Maggard and her husband Jason, Joshua Zinz and his wife Laura, and Timothy Midcap and his wife Sharyn; six great-grandchildren, Lee, Kylie, Allen, Sam, Ari, and Seth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John Paul Woolstrum; two brothers, Ralph and Arthur Woolstrum; three sisters, Frances Bly, Leota Houghtling, and Mabel Vanderhoff; and a son-in-law, John Midcap, Jr.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral and committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Glen Van Cise, Pastor of Chapmanville Community Church, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Randolph Township, Crawford County.
