Frank J. Coppola, Jr., 76, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born May 2, 1944 in Meadville, a son of the late Frank J. and Jane Monteleone Coppola, Sr. He married Heather Baierl in August 1972 and she preceded him in death July 17, 2002.
Frank was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School and a 1966 graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor’s degree in education specializing in mathematics. He additionally received his Master’s degree in psychology and counseling from Edinboro.
Frank was first a teacher in Cleveland before returning to Meadville where he taught at Meadville High School before becoming vice principal then principal at Meadville. He then went into business and industry as vice president of human resources at Saegertown Manufacturing Company and he helped establish the National Institute of Flexible Manufacturing. In 1987, Frank established his consulting firm, Coppola Enterprises.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was very active in the community where he served as a board member and president of Women’s Services, strongly involved with the National Tooling and Machining Association, and was a member and past president of the Meadville Country Club.
Frank was a very caring and selfless man who enjoyed conversation with people and was always putting others ahead of himself. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed following his sons’ and grandson’s hockey games. He loved and was devoted to his grandchildren and supporting them in all of their activities.
“He who has lived well. He has achieved success, who has lived well, laughed often and loved much. Who has left the world better than he found it, who has always looked for the best in others and gave them the best he had.”
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Coppola (Kim) and Darren Coppola, all of Meadville; two grandchildren, Samuel and Natalia Coppola; and many extended family and friends.
A private family funeral service will be at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. A Celebration of Frank’s life will be held at a future date.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
