Fred H. Cornell, Jr., 56, of Cochranton, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born June 28, 1953 in Meadville, a son of Fred H. and Anna Lou Talkington Cornell, Sr. He married Carol Bowes March 17, 1973.
Fred was employed as a construction worker, well driller, die sinker, and mechanic. He enjoyed drag racing cars and taking his children and grandchildren to the drag races. He especially loved his family and being involved in their lives; he adored his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Carol of 36 years, include a daughter, Candace Thrush and her husband Tyrone of Meadville; a son, Michael Cornell and his wife Krista of Meadville; his father, Fred H. Cornell, Sr. and his companion Carol J. Bowes of Cochranton; a brother, Alfred Thomas Cornell and his wife Sheila of Cochranton; 2 sisters, Tammy Beth Blair and her husband Tom of Cochranton and Cindy Sue Lee and her husband Ralph of Stafford, VA; a sister-in-law, Mary Stolp and her husband John of California; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Cornell, Amber Lee Keller, Amanda Marie Cornell, Isaiah Allen Keller, Brian Andrew Keller, Chloee Maree Cornell, and Allison Jane Cornell; a great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Renee Myers; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Anna Lou Cornell, he was preceded in death by a son, Andrew J. Cornell; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur W. and Maude Bowes.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral and committal service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Ferraro, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.
