Fred L. Karns

Fred L. Karns, 88, a resident of Mead Nursing Home for the past one and one-half years, died there Monday, February 22, 1982, after an illness of two years.

He was born at Oil City July 8, 1893, a son of Edward and Margaret Farren Karns.  He married Winifred McNerney who died in 1940 and subsequently married Mary Reagle October 11, 1943.

He was a bricklayer and member of Erie Local 28, Bricklayer's Union.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six daughters, Mrs. Richard (Bertile) Lynn of Franklin, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Carlson of Houston, Mrs. Kenneth (Nancy) Wilson, Jr. of Meadville, Mrs. Lary (Winifred) Williams of Meadville, Mrs. Linda Brooks of Meadville and Donna Karns of Saegertown; a son, Fred E. of Meadville; three sisters, Mrs. Twila Cunningham and Mrs. Bertile Kraus of St. Petersburg, FL and Mrs. Ethel Ronsky of Golfport, FL; and thirteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two grandsons.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Brandon Cemetery, Cranberry Township, Venango County.
