Frederic W. Charlton
Frederic W. Charlton, 83, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born March 3, 1933 in Meadville, a son of William and Ruth Campfield Charlton. He married Carole Mitchell October 8, 1955 and she preceded him in death March 26, 2015.
Fred was a 1951 graduate of Meadville High School and attended Penn State University. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years. He had also worked as a self-employed dairy farmer for over 10 years and later drove truck part-time for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition.
A member of St. John’s Church of God, Fred was formerly a member of the Army reserves and a volunteer fireman for West Mead 1 VFD. He enjoyed the outdoors, his family, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was blessed to have and enjoy the friendship of the staffs at Kings Family Restaurant and the Crawford County Care Center where his wife had been a resident.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Henderson and her husband Donald of Port Deposit, MD, Pamela O’Laughlin and her husband Dennis of Meadville, Janice Snidemiller and her husband Robert of Apex, NC, and Mary Jo Sanks and her husband Anthoni of Saxonburg, PA; a son, Jeffrey Charlton and his wife Nira of Meadville; ten grandchildren, Charles and William Henderson, Alyssa and Abby Snidemiller, Celina and Julian Sanks, John and Julia O’Laughlin, and Brooke and Morgan Charlton; two sisters, Mary (Bunny) Charlton of Meadville and Phyllis Harris of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter-in-law, Heather Charlton of Meadville; two nieces, Christine Stainbrook of Meadville and Kelly Burek of Saegertown; a sister-in-law, Kay Wetsell and her husband John of Edinboro; and dear friends, Harry and Evelyn Worley of Saegertown.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, David Charlton and a grandson, Donovan Sanks.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church of God, 7474 Mercer Pike, Meadville with the Rev. Greggory Giles, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
