Frederick C. (Fred) Oster

Frederick C. (Fred) Oster, 70, of 10940 Hollis Rd., Meadville, died suddenly at home, Wednesday, December 08, 2004.

He was born November 11, 1934 in Detroit, MI, a son of the late Rodney and Bertha Oster.  He married Shirley A. Clark November 11, 1954.

He was a 1953 graduate of Meadville High School.  He was a journeyman tool and die maker, having worked 43 years and retired in 1997 from Area Tool of Meadville.  He previously worked at Talon.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge #408 and a 32nd degree Mason with the Erie Consistory.  He was a member of the Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Dept. and Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall.  He enjoyed his tool and die trade, outdoor activities including golf, fishing, and hunting as well as canning, cooking, traveling, and attending the Meadville High School hockey games.

He attended Watson Run Church of God.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 50 years, include a son, Fritz P. Oster of Meadville; 2 daughters, Deborah A. McGowan and her husband Lloyd of Clarks Mills and Brenda J. Grossman and her husband Robert of Conneaut Lake; a granddaughter, Shanna Marie McGowan; and a half-brother, Howard Freeman of Livonia, MI.  He was preceded in death by an Uncle, Theodore A. Oster.

Calling hours will be today (Thursday) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ken Hough, Pastor of Watson Run Church of God officiating.

Burial will be in Watson Run Cemetery.
