Frieda M. Allen

Frieda M. Allen, 89, of Meadville passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born February 4, 1932 in Pittsburgh a daughter of Robert and Bessie Mosier Koch. She grew up in Pittsburgh where she started working at a very young age to help support the family. In her teenage years the family moved to Guys Mills where Frieda graduated from Randolph East Mead High School. She met her husband in Townville and they married in 1950. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. In addition to managing a large farm with many animals and working gardens, Frieda raised five children with endless patience and love. She was always present with sage advice and offered no judgement in her careful consideration of any subject or life issue. Her open arms and wisdom are missed already. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Elizabeth Lang of Meadville; two sons, Robert Allen (Lori) of Ocala, FL and Arthur Allen (Paula) of Mercer; four grandsons, Christopher Johnston of Guys Mills, J.D. Cooper of Molokai, HI, Taylor Lang (Andrea) and Connor Lang (Lily) along with great grandchildren, Arya, Layla, Colton and baby boy to be, Kayce all of Asheville, NC; a son-in-law, Bobby Cross and his son, Charlie of Raleigh, NC and her cousin, Jim Garrity. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years, Arthur Allen, Sr., in 2011 and two daughters, Marlene Cross in 2018 and Eileen Johnston in 2017. Frieda was generous to a fault of all charities great and small, but she held her strongest love for championing unfair treatment of Native Americans and the inhumane treatment of innocent animals. Her heart was pure. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, Monday, November 1, 2021 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
