G. Dewey Garfield

G. Dewey Garfield, 81, of Meadville, died Monday, June 2, 1980, at his home following a long period of failing health.

He was born at Guys Mills on June 28, 1898, son of George R. and Belle Gage Garfield.  He married Maude Strauss on December 8, 1928.

He was a carpenter for 35 years.  He served for five years as a Crawford County deputy sheriff under Sheriff Van Winkle and for a brief period as district constable in the first ward.

He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and a life member of S. B. Dick Hose Co.

He is survived by his wife.  He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
