G. Stanley Coutler, 77, of Meadville, died Monday November 30, 1987, at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mr. Coutler was born in Meadville, July 30, 1910, a son of George A. and Vinnie M. Allen Coutler. He married Helen Guenther on November 26, 1932. She survives.
He retired in 1972 from the former Avtex Fibers, Inc. as a supervisor of processing and scheduling after 41 years of service. He also was employed from 1936 through 1987 as a part-time automobile salesman and had worked since 1950 at Tom Kirkpatrick Buick. He was a member of St. Brigid's Church, the church's Holy Name Society and was a Eucharistic minister. He was a 1929 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and served as local lodge's chairman of the Elks National Foundation for 15 years. He was a member of West Mead 2 Volunteer Fire Department and Avtex Foreman's Club. He was a past governor of Meadville Moose Lodge 99.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Smith of Meadville and Mrs. John (Connie) Etheridge of Meadville; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Goodrich of Meadville; two brothers, Wesley Coutler of Meadville and Chester Coutler of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Brigid's Cemetery.
