Gary Dennis Caton

Gary Dennis Caton, 69, of Meadville and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center, died there, Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

He was born in Chicago, IL July 5, 1949 a son of the late John and Maxine Lynnete Smith Caton, Sr.  He was a 1968 graduate of Maine Twp. East High School in Park Ridge, IL where he sang in its Concert Choir and the Demonares Singing Group.  He also had additional studies at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, IL, Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL and the American Banking Institute in Chicago.  He worked in supervisory positions at bank, saving and loan and brokerage firms.

Gary was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church and had been active with the Democratic Party.  He was a client of CHAPS and was especially close to his CHAPS family.  He had interest in and supported several law enforcement and military organizations.  He also supported the United States Red Cross, Special Olympics and the Salvation Army among many others.

He is survived by a son, Patrick Mattes; a sister, Launa Burril (Russell) of Elmhurst, IL; a brother, John Caton, Jr. of Addison, IL; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hour will be Friday, October 12th from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas as Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
