Gary E. “Yo Yo” Gigone, 74, of Meadville died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Meadville, October 24, 1937 a son of Ernest F. and Frances P. Hart Gigone. He married Joyce Hollabaugh April 4, 1964 and she survives.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked as a heavy equipment operator for J.C. Lee Construction Co. and previously for Kebert Construction Co. A hard working may, he enjoyed working with and fixing anything. He also enjoyed building, especially his barn and snow plow. He attended Meadville High School
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Joyce of 47 years, include: a brother, Rodney L. Gigone and his wife Diane of Meadville; four nieces, Krista Gigone and her husband Eric of Philadelphia, Kendra Gigone and her fiancé Sam Fischer of Meadville, Beth Craig of Meadville and Brianna Craig of Meadville; three nephews, James Craig and his wife Audrie of Cambridge Springs, Brian Craig and his wife Doreen of Meadville and Kevin Craig and his wife Sonya of Meadville; a great nephew, Theodore; a cousin, Richard Smith of Martinez, CA and a sister-in-law, Linda Craig of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sonja Lee Gigone.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Jenkins, of Denny Chapel, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
