Gary Lee Ross

March 15, 1947 — February 20, 2025

Meadville, PA

Gary Lee Ross, 77 of Vernon Twp, Meadville, passed away on February 20, 2025 at home.

Gary was born in Meyersdale, Somerset County, on March 15, 1947 to the late Barron and Norma (Beal) Ross. Gary married his beloved wife: Linda M. Alexander on May 11, 1968. The couple would soon celebrate 57 years of marriage. Shortly after getting married Gary was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Gary was stationed at the Phu Loi Base in Vietnam. He was very proud of answering the call to serve his Country. Gary retired from Windstream (previously Alltel) with 43 years of service in the telephone industry where he worked as a manager for most of those years.

Gary was a member and past president of the Oil Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited and was very involved over the years. He was known for creating the ongoing Veterans Program, teaching veterans to fly fish and being able to do so at no charge. He was also recently honored as a Board Member Emeritus for his years of service. He was also a member of the Free & Accepted Masons Kane Lodge #566, and was a member of Rotary International, serving as President for both the Ridgway and Meadville Clubs, and was also recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Gary was an avid fisherman, archery and rifle hunter, loved the outdoors, golfing, and bowling. Gary would begin a passion without knowing much about what he was getting into, and would then excel in that activity.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Gary is survived by his daughters: Allison (Eric) Marendt of Edinboro; and Erin Ross of Erie, grandchildren: Ross, Kiersten, and Seth Marendt, niece Tami (Bert) Derrick, nephew Jason (Jennifer) Ross, as well as one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother David and Linda Ross, and nephews Kurt Ross and Craig Alexander.
