Gene C. Bailey

Gene C. Bailey, 70, of 10495 Hollis Rd., Meadville, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born January 17, 1940 in Geneva, a son of Harland and Virginia Vernon Bailey.  He married Louise Wood July 17, 1961.

Gene was a 1957 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and was employed as a car man welder for Erie, Erie-Lackawanna, and Conrail Railroads for 30 years.  He enjoyed gardening, bowling in the Plaza Lanes league, was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Gene was affiliated with High Street Community Church, Conneaut Lake.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Louise of 49 years, include four children, Scott Bailey and his wife Lisa of Chagrin Falls, OH, Alan Bailey of Conneaut Lake, Regina Randar and her husband John of Westlake, OH, and Vernon Bailey and his wife Wendy of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Virginia Pardee of Geneva; eight grandchildren, Austin, Drew and Abbey Bailey, Sarah, Stephanie, and Matthew Randar, and Laken and Zane Bailey; a sister, Kay Harned and her husband Richard of Conneaut Lake; a brother, Fred Bailey and his wife Anne Louise of Chittenango, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Loy and his step-father, Charles Pardee.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David M. Meckley, Pastor of High Street Community Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Anderson Cemetery, Greenwood Township.
