Genevieve Guay

July 16, 1924 — February 7, 2013

Genevieve Guay, 88, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born July 16, 1924 in Meadville, a daughter of Albert and Agnes Hetzel Cronin.  She married Howard W. Guay February 26, 1944 and he preceded her in death March 27, 1994.

Genevieve was a 1942 graduate of Meadville High School.  She was a homemaker and had previously worked for the Teamsters Union.

A member of Park Congregational Church, Genevieve enjoyed quilting, knitting, and reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Genee McFadden and her husband Gary of Longview, TX and Cindy Ridgeway and her husband Ardean of Saegertown; a sister, Florence Petrillo of Meadville; five grandchildren, Shawn McFadden, Gerad McFadden, Shae McFadden, Nyla Wolfgang, and Genna Richards; Nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Stella, Harper, Gabrielle, Terrance, Christopher, Victoria, and Monica; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Charles Cronin and three sisters, Elizabeth Parsell, Ruth Hanks, and Pearl Curry.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Park Congregational Church, 1040 Washington St., Meadville with the Rev. David Bault, Pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Congregational Church, 1040 Washington St., Meadville, PA 16335 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
