Genevieve I. Smith, 86, of 812 North St. died at home, Thursday, January 3, 2008, after a period of declining health.
She was born in New Richmond, October 8, 1921, a daughter of Arthur E. and Gladys Baker Wykoff. She married Forrest L. Smith November 23, 1945, and he survives.
Genevieve attended the New Richmond public schools and was a 1939 graduate of Townville High School.
She first worked as a bookkeeper for Meadville Co-Op and subsequently for Agway Petroleum Products retiring in 1986.
She had been a member of the Clarence Judd American Legion Post Auxiliary of Townville, the Townville Women’s Club and served as the judge of elections in Townville for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, and especially baking Christmas cookies to be given away.
Survivors in addition to her husband of 62 years include one son, Patrick Smith of Erie; two granddaughters, Heather Smith of Milwaukee, and Sally Smith of Cleveland; one brother, Cecil “Bud” Wykoff and his wife Shirley of Meadville and nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A private family funeral service will be held Monday January 7, 2008, at 1:00 p. m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Gerald Murphy, retired United Methodist clergyman, officiating.
Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
