Genevieve R. Shaffer, 92, of Meadville Care Center since January 1983, formerly of Holland Towers, died Thursday, August 10, 1995, at Meadville Care Center, following a period of declining health.
She was born July 4, 1903, in Vernon Township, a daughter of Fred and Adeline (Hart) Kebert. She was first married to Lawrence Hoyt, who preceded her in death and subsequently married Maurice Shaffer, who also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was a life member of Mead Chapter #445 Order of Eastern Star and a member of Meadville Grottoettes.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mae Birdeen) Emerick of Meadvile; one son, Eugene P. Hoyt of Colorado Springs, CO; one step-son, Charles Shaffer of Meadville; three sisters, Betty Livsey and Peg McGill, both of Meadville and Sarah Spayde of Jamestown; one brother, Fred Kebert of Meadville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Wilson F. Hoyt; a sister, Luella Harrington and a brother, Albert Kebert.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
