George A. Eiler, 85, of 663 Albright Drive, died Thursday Sept. 26, 2002, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, where he and wife have resided since 1985.
He was born in Meadville, May 9, 1917, a son of Clark C. & Mae Stambaugh Eiler. He married Betty Jo Minnis June 30, 1950, and she survives.
He was a 1935 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He retired from Talon in gauge maintenance after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Meadville Kiwanis Club, and a member of Stone United Methodist Church and a former usher for many years. In retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 52 years, include 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia Eiler, and Shirley Minnis, and 2 brothers-in-law, Chester Minnis, and John Minnis, all of Meadville, and also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Eiler.
A private family funeral service will be held Saturday at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St, with Dr. James Durlesser, pastor of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.
Entombment will be in the family mausoleum in Greendale Cemetery
