George A. Waters

February 25, 1873 — July 23, 1962

George A. Waters, 89, of Meadville, former divisional car foreman for the Erie Railroad, died Monday, July 23, 1962 at City Hospital.

He was born at Peiffertown in Woodcock Township, February 25, 1873, a son of John P. and Sarah E. Reisinger Waters, and married the former Grace Halfast of Venango.  She preceded him in death in 1942.

He joined the railroad at Venango as a member of the section crew and when he retired in 1944 he was a divisional car foreman with authority extending from Greenville to Hamburg, NY.  He maintained his office in Meadville.

He held a 50-year gold pass to railroad and a life membership in the railroad veterans' organization his office in Meadville.

He was a member of Venango Lutheran Church and formerly was a member of the board of Venango Cemetery Assn.

Surviving is a niece, Mrs. Helen Brydon of Greenville.  Two brothers, William and Charles, preceded him in death.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Venango Cemetery.
