George M. Bert, 67, of Jackson Center, PA, passed away on December 25, 2024. George was born to Melvin and Marjorie Bert on July 15, 1957. George received his Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State in 2003 before becoming an engineer for Reznor. George retired from Reznor in 2020 before obtaining work as the township treasurer for Jackson Township. 

George was a faithful member of Jackson Center Presbyterian Church where he served as a clerk and an elder. George served his country in the Army from 1976 to 2000 and in the Air Force from 2004 to 2010 when he retired. He actively served in Operation Desert Storm during his time in the military. He was also a member of the VFW where he served as a trustee and a quartermaster and the American Legion where he served as a financial officer and a treasurer. 

George was a tinkerer and always had a project he was working on. He loved the outdoors and being an active person, visiting the gym regularly. George also enjoyed taking a ride on his motorcycle every once and a while to feel the breeze. Most importantly, George loved his family and loved spending time with them. 

George is survived by his children, Mindy (Jon Zirkle) Bert, Sara (David) Hazlett, and Emily (Andy) Reda; his wife Karen Bert, and her son Josh Freeman. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Ryan Zirkle, Madison Bert, Devin Hazlett, Ellie Hazlett, Layla Hazlett, and Maisie Reda, to cherish his memory. He is survived by three younger siblings, Bob (Betsy) Bert, Mike (Cathy) Bert, and David Bert. He is also survived by his partner Missy Wike. 

George is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kimberlee Cooney. He is preceded in death by his niece, Jessica Lee Bert, and a baby grandson, Nathaniel Zirkle.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. Friends and Family will be received at the funeral home for calling hours on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1-3pm with a funeral service and military honors to follow at 3pm.
