George C. Horton, 89, of the United Methodist Home and Nursing Hospital since 1968, formerly of Erie, died Thursday, February 23, 1984, at Spencer Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born at Ridgway, October 10, 1894, a son of Arthur and Laura Gardner Horton.
Mr. Horton married Lillian Forsyth September 14, 1928, who preceded him in death January 20, 1967. He was self-employed as owner/operator of the Fix-It-Shop, Erie, and had been previously employed by West Penn Power Co., as a lineman. Mr. Horton was a member of Tenth Street United Methodist Church, Erie, and was a veteran of World War II, 13th Calvary.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Constantine (Dorothy) Lupascu of Aurora, OH; a son, the Rev. Donald C. Horton of Stroud, OK; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
