George E. Sayre, 67, of Meadville, died at Meadville Medical Center, Liberty Street, following an illness of several months.
He was born at Erie, April 13, 1921, a son of Wilson E. and Opel Mary Wilmouth Sayre.
He retired in 1975 as a tool cutter grinder with Ford Motor Co. of Cleveland, OH. In retirement, he had been the photographer for NW PA Riding and Driving Club, of which he was a founding member. He also was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army in Europe and Africa.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Sauer of Denver, CO and Sandra Hanrahan of Mentor, OH; six sons, Larry Eugene Sayre of Guys Mills, David Sayre of Georgetown, DE, George E. Sayre, Jr. of Okeechobee, FL, Mark, Jeffrey and Kenneth Sayre of Cleveland, OH; his mother, Opel Sayre of Meadville; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Lee Sayre; one brother, Eugene Sayre and one sister, Marjorie Sutliff.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery.
