George O. Smith

October 12, 1873 — December 16, 1961

George O. Smith, 88, of Meadville, who operated Smith's Diner from 1929 to 1944, died Saturday, December 16, 1961, at the Flickinger Convalescent Home after a long illness.

Mr. Smith also operated Townville Hotel for a period of four years.  A member of Cussewago Odd Fellows Lodge, and a former member of the Townville lodge, he was a 50-year Odd Fellows Lodge member.

He was born in Venango County October 12, 1873, a son of Alexander and Elizabeth VinCamp Smith.  His wife, the former Lena E. Warren, died in 1957.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Gertha M. Wilson of Donna, TX, Mrs. Bessie M. Cross of Parkersburg, WV, Miss Belle D. Smith at home; and Mrs. Melda A. VanTassel of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Eva Lamb of Townville; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Townville.
