George S. Conley

July 29, 1929 — October 2, 2012

George S. Conley, Jr., 83, of Conneaut Lake and formerly of Peters Twp. in the Pittsburgh area died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Rolling Fields where he had been a resident since June.

He was born July 29, 1929 in Pittsburgh a son of George S. and Emma Nagel Conley.

He was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Natrona Heights.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army.  He worked in sales at various auto dealers in the Pittsburgh area and also for John Rugala Auto in Andover, OH.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, Conneaut Lake.  He enjoyed water skiing and was active with the Conneaut Lake Ski Club in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  He also enjoyed snow skiing and was a ski instructor at Seven Springs and Holiday Valley Ski Resorts.  He had his private pilot’s license, flying his own plane and he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by three cousins, George Hess of Florida, Jerry Staub of the Pymatuning area and Emma Reel of Pittsburgh; and countless wonderful friends.

A Prayer Service will be Saturday at 12 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake with Fr. Steve Anderson, officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Harm Jan Huidekoper VFW Post #2006

Arrangements are under the direction of the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
