George W. Barrett, 74, died at City Hospital, May 1, 1957. He had been in failing health for two years.
He was a owner of the former Barrett Tool and Machine Co.
He was born September 21, 1882, in Erie, a son of James O. and Matilda Meeham Barrett. He attended Meadvile public schools, studied three years at Allegheny College and took courses in mechanical drawing and engineering at the International Schools at Scranton.
He later became assistant manager of the Barrett firm, founded by his father, and in 1929 took over ownership of the company.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Grace Saunders Barrett; a son, Gordon O. Barrett of Conneaut Lake Road; and four grandchildren, George, Gordon, Elizabeth and John Barrett.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
