George W. Schroeder

George W. Schroeder, 85, of Meadville, died Wednesday, January 31, 1996 in Winter Haven, FL following a sudden illness.

He was born April 21, 1910 in Scranton, PA a son of the late Fred and Kathryn Becker Schroeder.  He married Irene S. Toboz, June 30, 1938.  She survives.

He retired as the supervisor of testing from the engineering department at Talon in 1972 after about 42 years of service.  He was also the co-owner-operator of Willey's Car Wash.  He attended Emmanuel United Church of Christ.  He was a 1928 graduate of Saegertown High School, member of Elks Lodge #219 and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, hunting and following the financial markets.

Survivors, in addition to his wife include a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Carol) Prather of Meadville; a son, George L. Schroeder of Meadville; three brothers, Fred Schroeder of West Palm Beach, FL, Henry Schreoder of Hemet, CA and William Schroeder of Pleasantville, PA and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hickernell and Grace Toboz and a brother, John G. Schroeder.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
