Gerald C. Bovard

June 23, 1911 — September 29, 1983

Gerald C. Bovard, 72, of Meadville, died Thursday, September 29, 1983, at Spencer Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born at Hallston in Butler County, June 23, 1911, a son of Carr and Bertha Robinson Bovard.  He was married June 30, 1937, to Wilda Eppinger, who survives.

He retired in 1975 as supervisor of shipping at the former American Viscose Co., now Avtex Fibers Inc., where he was employed for 35 years.

He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.  He had served as a church trustee and a member of the board.

He was a charter member of West Mead 1 Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Meadville; Timohty Alden Council 60, Meadville, having served at recorder; Soloman Royal Arch Chapter 191, Meadville; and Northwestern Commandery 25, Knights Templar, Meadville.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Richard N. Bovard of Meadville and Gary P. Bovard of New York, NY; two brothers, Frank Bovard of Harrisburg and John Bovard of Meadville; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
