Gerald (Jerry) F. Furry, 76, of Guys Mills and formerly of Akron, Ohio, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Park Avenue Rehab, Meadville.
He was born February 17, 1938 in Akron, a son of Frank and Pauline Osborne Furry.
Jerry attended Randolph High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1958 to 1961. He worked as a steel burner at Simcox Grinding and Steel Company, Akron for over 40 years.
Jerry was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed playing basketball, poker, hunting, and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include five sisters, Janet Copeland and her husband Terry of Saegertown, Judy Shellenberger of Akron, Sandy Baker of Ohio, Kathleen Berkley of Key West, FL, and Christine Furry of California; a brother, William Furry and his wife Charlotte of East Springfield; a sister-in-law, Shirley Furry Porter of Cambridge Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews including Jim Furry and his wife Debbie of Guys Mills with whom he lived for the past six years.
In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Timothy Furry and a sister, Cleo Furry.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills with Fr. Daniel Prez as Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
