Gerald L. Piercy

Gerald (Jake) L. Piercy, 69, of Meadville, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 25, 1945 in Altoona, a son of Coy W. and Mary Eckley Piercy.  He married Cindy L. Gable August 18, 1984 and she survives.

Jake worked in construction for Hudson Homes and had also worked at Winters Plumbing and Heating.  He previously worked in construction in Florida and Georgia and in the New Orleans Shipyards.

Jake was affiliated with Cornerstone Bible Church, Crossingville.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Cindy of 30 years, include three sons, Jason Piercy and his wife Julie of Midlothian, TX, Josh Piercy and his girlfriend Sandra of Dover, DE, and Jeremy Piercy of Meadville; two daughters, Charity Rhul and her husband Lloyd of Saegertown and Jenna Farnsworth and her husband Jon of Washington, UT; eight grandchildren, Austin Piercy, Robbie Piercy, Alyssa Gable, Justin Gable, KiAra Piercy, Logan Piercy, Nevaeh Piercy, and Arria Farnsworth  plus an additional grandchild expected; a sister, Pauline Prince of Harmonsburg; his father-in-law, Nick Gable and his wife Barbara of Meadville; three brothers-in-law, Bill Gable and his wife Margie of Clarksville, TN, Bobby Gable of Abbeville, SC, and Nick John Gable (Angie) of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Shelia Sampson (George) of Meadville; Jessica Wagner of Meadville whom Jake thought of like a daughter; and nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Piercy and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Byham.

A memorial service will be held at the Kerrtown Community Center, 18834 Hope St., Meadville at a future date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 who has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Memories and condolences may be shared at waidfuneralhome.net.
