Gerald L. Wilmarth, 91, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died Saturday, August 15, 1998 at his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born August 18, 1906 in Scranton, a son of the late David and Blanche Lancaster Wilmarth. He married Minnie I. Moon September 30, 1933. She preceded him in death October 29, 1997.
Mr. Wilmarth was a graduate of Central High School in Scranton. He worked for many years at the Erie-Lackwanna Railroad, retiring as a test engineer. He was a member and past master of the Union Masonic Lodge #291 of Scranton. He had been active with the Boy Scouts of America in Scranton. He was a former member of Yesterday's Sound barber shop chorus. He enjoyed fishing and photography.
He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and was a former choir member and church usher.
Survivors include one son, Charles S. Wilmarth (Marjorie) of Marietta, GA; two granddaughters, Cheryl Boza of Orlando, FL and Amy Caple of Athens, GA; one sister, Jeanette Marsh of Port Ritchy, FL; one brother, David Wilmarth of Scranton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Kratzer.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
