Geraldine S. (Jeri) Hogan

Geraldine S. (Jeri) Hogan, 82, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born January 3, 1937 in Meadville, a daughter of Lloyd Raymond and Frances A. Randall Holbrook. She married William F. Hogan June 6, 1970 and he preceded her in death August 11, 1973.

Jeri was a graduate of Randolph East Mead High School, Edinboro University and received her Master’s in Education with a concentration in painting and communication from Allegheny College.  She worked as an art teacher at the Reynolds School District for 38 years.

She was a longtime member of Christ Church, Episcopal where she painted the church’s Apple Tree Mural and was a member of the choir.  Jeri was on the Bishop’s Committee and Vestry at Christ Church, and many other committees including the Episcopal Church Women.  Along with her mother, Jeri was a member of the Roda Literary Club after she retired from Reynolds.  She attended operas, orchestral and dance performances, travelling to Erie, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland as well as at Allegheny.  As a teacher, Jeri enjoyed engaging with youth wherever she went.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina Hogan of Philadelphia and Melissa Gubbe (Jeff) of Bonney Lake, WA; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer; three brothers, Emory Holbrook (Bonnie) of Meadville, Paul Holbrook (Janice) of Scotland, PA, and Mark Holbrook (Lisa) of Idaho Falls, ID; two sisters, Sharon Lavely of Troy, IL and Kristi McGarvey (Dan) of Philadelphia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 28th from 4-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 29th at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Church, Episcopal, 870 Diamond Park, Meadville with the Rev. Rebecca Lash, Vicar, officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
