Gertrude Anderson Phillips, 95, a winter resident of Tarpon Springs, FL, a summer resident of Conneaut Lake and formerly of Pleasant Hills, died December 15, 2004 in Palm Harbor, FL.
she was born February 19, 1909, a daughter of the late Cecil Robert Anderson and Ida May Alderson. She married James Dickens Phillips of Meyersdale in 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She graduated from National Park Seminary, Washington, DC in 1929. She served with the Grey Ladies of Pittsburgh, National Park Seminary Alumnae Assn. and was a member of the founding group of Pleasant Hills Community Church. She kept the family together with calls, letters and visits. She loved nature, Florida beaches, traveling, church and community service work of 44 years in Pleasant Hills.
Survivors include three children, Gertrude Marilyn Phillips of Mill Creek, WA, James Dickens Phillips of Arlington, TX and David Curtis Phillips of Treasure Island, FL; five grandchildren, Christian Conant Davis, Cary Phillips Davis, Gordon Anderson Wood, Catherine Lynn Johnston and Patricia Adele Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Christian Davis, Christopher Ryan Davis, Jonathan Tyler Davis, Sarah Elizabeth Davis and Liana Meilin Wood; one great-great-grandchilddaughter, Jaelyn Davis; two sisters, Elizabeth A. Harrison of Clearwater, FL and Gladys A. Wray of Springfield, IL and thirty-four nieces and nephews from the Anderson-Phillips family tree.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Burial of cremated remains at sea was where the Anclote River merges with the Gulf of Mexico.
