Gertrude J. Kindervater

Gertrude J. Kindervater, 95, of Meadville, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Crawford County Care Center.

She was born June 29, 1913 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Ray and Lillian Wasson Kiser.  She married James M. Kindervater May 19, 1934 and he preceded her in death October 18, 2002.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Meadville Alliance Church.  Gertrude enjoyed reading, cooking, and taking care of her home.

Survivors include 2 sons, Kenneth A. Kindervater and his wife Thelma of Wheatland, WY and James L. Kindervater and his wife Darla of Meadville; 6 grandchildren, Kenneth, Mary Ann, Jill, David, Beverly, and Carol; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Butts of Beach Island, SC; 2 brothers, Owen Kiser of Meadville and Clair Kiser of Harmonsburg; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Alfred, Floyd, and Kenneth Kiser and 3 sisters, Ruth Turner, Leda Sutliff, and Mabel McGahen.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Meadville Alliance Church, 660 N. Main St., Meadville.  A funeral service will follow at the church at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Conley officiating.

Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
