Mrs. Gertrude S. Laffer, 85, widow of Dr. C. C. Laffer, died at her home in Meadville, early Tuesday morning.
She was born in Meadville, August 4, 1868, the youngest daughter of William and Caroline Sackett. She was graduated from Meadville High School and from the Pennsylvania College of Music, and taught in the public schools until her marriage to Cornelius Laffer in 1896.
She was a lifelong member of Stone Methodist Church, and for many years was active in its women's societies and on the official board. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, the Woman's Club, Crawford County Medical Society Aux. and was a past president of the board of directors of the Young Women's Christian Assn.
Following her husband's death, she served for three years as hostess in Caflisch Hall a Allegheny College.
Mrs. Laffer is survived by three sons and two daughters, F. S. Laffer of Cleveland, C. C. Laffer of Columbus, N. C. Laffer of College Park, MD, Mrs. W. M. Sceiford of North East and Mrs. E. H. Olson of Wilmington, DE; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
